There is not any homework outside of following along with step-by-step class recording to create a new painting each week. Students can continue to play with and expand on their ideas as much as they want each week, but are encouraged to: 1. Follow along to create their painting. 2. Post a photo of their painting to share in the classroom. 3. Comment with any extra reflections, ideas or information about the animal we're painting that week. And bonus, comment on a classmates photo / painting with a compliment.학습 평가

수업 소개
Each week, we'll have a new nature or animal theme. One week, it might be trees, leaves or butterflies, and the next, flowers, the sky, or landscapes. On some weeks students will be encouraged to bring a physical item they've collected from out in nature (a leaf or flower, for example) or a picture that represents the nature element we're working with that week (like a picture of an ocean wave). Each week, we'll play with tips for how to draw, outline, and then watercolor this specific nature element. I'll post a video with the step-by-step guided instructions for the drawing that week, and students are encouraged to follow along to create their paintings and then share photos of their paintings in the classroom! September Session: Week 1: Chameleon Week 2: Penguin Week 3: Fox Week 4: Sea Otter October Session: Week 1: Sea Horse Week 2: Sunflower Week 3: Crab Week 4: Snail November Session: Week 1: Sea Turtle Week 2: Peacock Week 3: Rose Week 4: Llama *Please reach out with any animal requests. I'm happy to adjust based on student interest! :) I love helping kids paint their favorite animals and things from nature! Each week, students will also be encouraged to write about their observations, inspirations, and experiences as time allows. This offers both the opportunity to practice observational skills and attention to detail, as well as internal awareness and self-expression. We'll consider questions like: *What did you observe? *What details did you notice? *How did you feel? It's going to be a beautiful combination and I hope you can join us! Please Note: This class is created to be a safe space for students to play with and express their creativity and boost their confidence. While the step-by-step drawing and creative process is guided, the class is not designed to contain formal, specific, or in depth watercolor instruction. I encourage students to paint in a way that brings them joy and allows their unique creativity and artist's eye to shine through in ways that are appropriate for their age and experience.

*A basic watercolor set (I will be using guache/opaque watercolor) -- nothing fancy here, just a set of basic colors will be great! *A basic round brush, and any other brushes you'd like to use, such as filbert or angle shader, etc. (If your watercolor set comes with a brush that works great too!) *Watercolor or mixed media paper -- this can be loose pages, or in the form of a notebook or journal *A pencil -- for drawing and basic outlining *An eraser -- if not already attached to the pencil ;) *A black Sharpie for outlining -- either thick or thin works great! *And of course, water, and a paper towel or rag nearby just in case something spills!

I created this as an opportunity to combine some art and creativity with science and observation of the natural world.
I have experience teaching natural science concepts but have also, in recent years, discovered the true value of connecting more deeply with the world around us, and with nature.
So this is a way to both foster deep internal well-being, as well as learning and practicing skills that support science learning, as well as any and all disciplines where inner and outer observation and reflection are required. Which to me, is basically -- everything! :)
