수업 소개

I’ve put together a collection of my four favorite art projects that we created during November and December last season. I’m now offering them with a flexible schedule so if my regular times don’t work with your schedule you can view them at your own convenience. These will be prerecorded classes and are not live. But don’t worry we’ll still have plenty of interaction!

During this four week flexible schedule class young artists will create one unique artwork each week using themes inspired by cold weather seasons. Through the use of storytelling, games and songs preschoolers will learn about shapes, color and art principles. Instructor will demonstrate using age appropriate step by step instructions to show preschoolers how to create each unique artwork. They will gain confidence through drawing, painting, cutting and pasting.

To encourage class participation all learners can share their artwork with the group on the classroom discussion board. Instructor will offer positive feedback and messages of praise for each artwork posted. With the help of a grown up assistant classmates will leave comments for each other pointing out what they like in their peers artwork. We will also be playing a fun interactive scavenger hunt shape game each week. Which will give preschoolers an opportunity to share their findings with their peers. Lastly we will have two group discussions:
1. Comparing the differences between a figure and portrait drawing.
2. Comparing the differences between a cityscape and landscape.

All prerecorded lessons will be posted on Sunday evening. Learners will have an entire week to view the content and to work on the art project. The finished product should be posted on the discussion board for instructor and peer comments.

Week 1: Oval Reindeer
Preschool artists will create a drawing of a winter reindeer head by tracing circles to create an oval and color it using crayons. They will paint the background by mixing the colors yellow and blue to create the color green. We will read The Little Reindeer by Nicola Killen.

Week 2: Triangle landscape
Preschool artists will create a collage of a winter scene in perspective by adhering various sized triangles together and overlapping the cut up shapes. They will add branches using markers and stamp snowflakes with the back of a paintbrush. We will read Over the River and Through the Wood by Lydia Maria Child.

Week 3: Circle Bear
Preschool artists will paint a brown bear using the circle shape and mixing the color brown. We will read Bear Snores On
by Karma Wilson.

Week 4: Rectangle Cityscape
Preschool artists will create a pen and ink illustration of a cityscape during the Thanksgiving Day parade by tracing rectangles and squares. They will use a thin line for the background buildings and a bold line for the balloon float. They will color it using watercolor paint. We will read the true story Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet.

Originally from New Jersey, Mary Roche, moved to Baltimore in 2003 to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). While at MICA Mary focused on her two passions, Sculpture and teaching students. For as long as she can remember art has been a huge part of her life. Since she studied at the Studio Art Center International in Florence in 2005 she has taken every opportunity to travel and use art from around the world to inspire her personal art and the lessons she teaches her students. She loves to work with children and watch them make discoveries through art. Whether in her own work or in her students', she strives to make personal connections with the real world to help relate to the artwork being created.

Mary graduated from MICA with a BFA in General Sculptural Studies. Then continued at MICA to earn a Masters in Art Teaching degree. She taught in Howard County Public Schools for 6 years with experiences in elementary and high school art programs. While living in Maryland, she worked with a homeschooling group to create custom curriculums and summer camps that were cross curricular with history. She has over 10 years experience teaching private art lessons.

Mary moved to Bucks County, PA in 2014, were she took on long term substitute art positions in the Central Bucks School District and taught art classes at the Whitemarsh Art Center and ArtMuse. While at ArtMuse she focused on teaching preschool and lower elementary age students, she also developed a child caregiver program for students ages 2 to 4. Making sure she shares her love of art while helping students gain self confidence is very important to Mary. She is looking forward to meeting students on Outlook.com and helping them to create meaningful artwork that makes them proud. Mary currently resides in York County, PA with her husband Kris and daughters Ella and Willow.
