This one week class will focus on learning how to do basic subtraction. Each lesson contains one 5-10 minute mini-lesson along with guided practice for the skill of the day. After class students will have activities to show their proficiency in that skill therefore a printer is necessary. This self paced course is a part of my growing Math Workshop series tailored to teaching specific skills in a weekly course. Since this is a self paced class, students can go through the course at their own pace to suit their personal learning style and schedule however, for maximum retention and practice a week is recommended with one lesson a day. LESSON 1 will focus on counting backwards from 20 while creating a rocket ship to be used as a reference tool for the rest of the week. LESSON 2 Subtraction within 10 using manipulatives LESSON 3 Subtraction from 10 counting backwards LESSON 4 Subtracting from 20 using a number line LESSON 5 Students will be review what we learned during the week and and extra practice worksheets and extension activities will be provided. Welcome! My name is Debbie and I am a certified teacher with a Bachelors of Science in Education with a concentration in the visual arts. I also hold Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on math and science. I have been lucky enough throughout my career to have taught grades K through 6 and be a math and reading interventionist. Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach and I love thinking of creative ways to get students to love it too and gain confidence.
I primarily teach math classes most popular class is my 1:1 math tutoring class, but I have expanded my classes recently to include art classes as well as thematic science classes for first, second, third and fourth grades.
