In this 6 week course, budding entrepreneurs will learn what it takes to be successful entrepreneurs.
Through this fun and engaging program, students will explore their natural gifts and talents, while gaining competence in the terms necessary to become successful entrepreneurs.  Upon completion of the 6 weeks, they will be given a copy of my ENCYCLOPEDIA of ENTREPRENEURSHIP.  They will also be given sample templates of a basic budget and financial statements used by Entrepreneurs.  This program will be very collaborative and students will share ideas and discuss implementation ideas.
Week 1 – What is Entrepreneurship and what are the benefits of owning a business? Students will also learn the different types of business.  Finally, students will discuss their gifts and talents and potential business ideas.
Week 2 – Time to Write a Business Plan.  Together, students will write a sample business plan for a potential business idea. Students will learn the importance of this integral document in creating a successful business.
Week 3 – Budgeting – What is a budget and why is it important for a business?  Together, students will create a sample budget and will understand the importance of the budget. A template budget worksheet will be given to students in this class.
Week 4 – Connecting with Customers. Students will create a plan for reaching potential customers.  They will work together researching and discussing how they can market and advertise their potential businesses.
Week 5 – Basic Accounting – Let’s explore the financial statements. Students will learn the basic Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet.  They will understand how to create their own Financial Statements with templates given in class.
Week 6 – Put it ALL into action.  What an exciting day – we’ve learned all it takes to run a small business.  In this class, students will be given an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice. Students will be able to share with the class their plan for moving forward with one potential business idea. Other students will offer feedback to help strengthen business ideas.
