This ongoing course is meant to function as an English Language Arts class for young learners. The course will teach Common Core curriculum standards that learners in third and fourth grade are expected to meet. The course will utilize examples from New York State assessments and I can provide parents with their learners' progress if requested. Every session will have a new story to read in order for learners to practice their reading fluency. The course will also provide strategies for chunk reading and skills needed to develop reading comprehension. Learners will read, answer comprehension questions, and practice writing summaries/short answer questions each session. Students are welcome to join any time and students that continue their enrollment in the course will build upon skills learned in prior sessions as they perfect English Language Arts skills.
