In each class, we will create a new directed drawing picture together. Your child will work on following directions to create artwork. Each directed drawing will be a new animal. We will draw pets, ocean animals, farm animals and more! After drawing, we will add in some literacy skills by writing vocabulary words and/or writing a sentence about the animal. Depending on your child's level, he or she could write with teacher guidance, "Dogs can run." or "Dogs are awesome animals!" If time...

I am a certified elementary teacher and have taught phonics, reading, writing and math for many years. Before teaching 2nd grade, I tutored students in reading comprehension, decoding words, math and science after school and during the summer. I was also a Title 1 reading intervention specialist for grades kindergarten-3rd grade focusing on reading fluency and comprehension strategies. I have worked in a preschool and pre-k setting as well working on a variety of literacy skills. In my 2nd grade class, we would create directed drawing pictures together for fun holidays throughout the year.
