Students will learn about the successful group of ceratosaur descendants: The Abelisaurs The topics covered will be as follows: 1) Descent from Ceratosaurs 2) The Noasaur/Abelisaur split 3) The Noasaur branch 4) Early Abelisaurs 5) Evolving in the shadow of Carcharodontosaurs and Spinosaurs 6) Dwarfism in Europe 7) Conquest of India and Madagascar (with discussion of confirmed dinosaur cannabalism) 8) Size increase after 87 Mya 9) Prominence in hunting styles My class will be structured along the evolutionary and geological timeline of this family. I will teach using a mixture of images, slides and clips, all procured with permission from the BBC and the respective artists My teaching style can be described as interactive. Learners will get to interact with me and each other primarily through discussion and lectures. There is no required experience or knowledge needed as this is an introduction to this group.
