폴리머 클레이 미니어처 매력에 대한 심층 탐구

Students will explore a variety of methods of working with polymer clay to create several styles of miniature charms.  We will explore how to mix the clay for a variety of effects, mix other materials into the clay, and ways to finish the charm after it is baked.  

What topics will be covered?
We will learn about what polymer clay is, ways to manipulate it, and we will blend colors.  We will use observation skills to create some miniature food charms.  We will also learn some ways we can add finishing touches to our charms after they are baked to "fix" their form.  

How is the class structured?
Each class will be structured with an introduction, an example of what the finished work for that class might look like, and an opportunity to ask questions.  

Class Breakdown:
Class 1:
Introduction to polymer clay and how the clay is used.  There will also be a discussion of safety while baking the clay.  We will begin learning how to mix colors by creating apple charms.

Class 2:
We will continue to explore methods of mixing colors.  Students will be able to either fully blend the color or create a marbled look.  We will also explore adding texture to the clay using a variety of objects we find to create an ice cream cone with texture.  

Class 3:
We will explore various ways we can add other materials to the clay for certain effects.  We will use this technique to create a taco charm.  

Class 4:
We will put together all the skills we learned and also add ways we can use chalk to create subtle color changes.  We will create a cheeseburger charm.  We will wrap up by reviewing what we have learned and learners will have the opportunity to ask any additional questions they might have.  

What is the teacher's teaching style?  How will students interact with the teacher and each other?
I teach by using guiding questions and asking learners for their input and observations.  I also use a combination of demonstration and occasional lecture style to provide additional context and information.  Throughout the entire class session, I encourage learners to ask questions and jump in with their observations as they work.  

There is no prerequisite knowledge required for this course.  I am also happy to teach this course to single learners and I do not cancel due to low enrollment.
