수업 소개
**This is a FLEX class with no live meetings.** In this class for beginning Spanish students, we will learn vocabulary through watching the online children's show Salsa and doing follow up extension activities. I subscribe to the belief that students learn language more quickly and effectively the more often they engage with it. For this reason, I provide daily activities and videos for the students. Class Schedule: Week 1 - Episode 119: The Little Red Hen Week 2 - Episode 120: The Armadillo's Hamburgers Week 3 - Episode 121: The Fruit Fiasco Week 4 - Episode 122: Finally Nine Week 5 - Episode 123: Quiz Show II: The Broken Glasses Week 6 - Episode 124: A Dark and Stormy Night Class Format: Monday - Students are asked to watch the designated Salsa episode for the week and then draw and share in the classroom a picture about the episode. All episodes are about 15 minutes long and will be posted directly to the classroom as an embedded YouTube video*. I will provide English transcripts for parental use; however, I ask that parents please do not share them with the students. Learning through immersion is a big reason I am using these particular videos. Tuesday - I will review that week's focus vocabulary and then walk the students through drawing a nine-grid bingo card. Students will be able to interact with each other throughout the rest of the week through the bingo game. Each day I'll post 2-3 new words. Who will be the first to get three in a row? Wednesday-Friday - I will post a short (under 5m) video daily with activities to continue learning the vocabulary. I will guide students through an activity as if it were a live class and allow pauses for them to answer to themselves or to a parent. Each day's video will be different than the one posted the previous day. In addition to the daily videos, I also ask that students watch the Salsa episode of the week at least one extra time. Weekends are a great time to watch! Please note: The Salsa videos are entirely in Spanish, but even children with absolutely no previous Spanish knowledge will understand generally what is happening thanks to the visual clues and slower pace. I will use Spanish in all my videos, but will often also translate to English afterwards for clarity. *Students do not have to visit the YouTube website. The videos are embedded directly in the Outschool Classroom.

교사 전문성 및 자격증
I am a Charlotte Mason home educator with a degree in English and Spanish Literature. I am passionate about science and the humanities, and am excited to share my passion for these subjects with your children!
I believe that students learn best when they do the work of learning. This means that I will do my best to put them in contact with living ideas and facilitate their journey towards a more comprehensive understanding of the subject. I want your students to participate in their own education. Rather than rote memorization, we will utilize first-hand experience and the process of narration (re-telling what they have learned from the lesson). I hope your children will leave my courses inspired and with a greater desire to continue learning!
