Through a combination of lecture and discussion, students will learn about the creation and developments of Cubism. We will begin with the sharing of George Braques' and Pablo Picasso's ideas inspired by Cezanne's simplification of form. Using a timeline we'll see how they created Analytical Cubism simplyfing items into basic shapes and looking from all angles. Students will play a game to help understand Synthetic Cubism and the changes that lead to its creation. We'll see the minor Cubist movements that came out of these two styles: Crystal Cubism, Orphism Cubism, and more.
