수업 소개
In this class students will learn how to make their own penguins using a simple single crochet. I teach via "tell, show, do, feedback" which is similar to the gradual release model used in schools. I will share a document that has written instructions that students can follow, as well in class I will model the crochet techniques (slip knot, slip stitch, single crochet and chain). Over the class meetings students will be able to crochet their penguins and meet/converse with other students about their crochet hobbies. Day 1: Meet and go over colors, hooks and introductions. Students will learn how to do the slip knot, chain and single crochet to start their penguins. Day 2:Crochet the body/head of the penguin and stuff as we go. Day 3: Finish crocheting our penguins. Add beak/wings/feet. *Students should know a slip knot and magic circle for this lesson, we will learn how to carry a color across our projects.*

Students will need yellow, black and white yarn of a medium 4 worsted (for I and J hooks). If using a chunky yarn go with a larger hook please. Stuffing/batting and doll eyes ( you can do with yarn if you'd like). ** Yarn can be other colors if the student prefers.**

Thank you for your interest in my classes and in me. I have my Bachelor's of Art: Fine Art from Florida Gulf Coast University, go Eagles! After four years of teaching visual arts and three years of teaching online, I am excited for every opportunity to teach young learners and help them grow. My classroom is one that is open and friendly, accepting of everyone regardless of skill level or knowledge, promotes creativity, and inspires learners to continue to learn. I love that "aha" moment when something we are learning clicks and a students eyes light up.
I am open to creating classes to meet the needs of students. Share your excitement and ideas! I love all medium: drawing, painting, sculpting, fiber arts and digital design. I also love cooking from scratch.
I try to tie in the history of the arts as I teach so that it builds a background for what we are learning. If we are learning about Surrealism, we might digitally travel to Spain and learn about the history of Salvador Dali and tour his museum. Then we will create a dream journal and our own artistic creations based on the style of the movement. I want my classes to inspire students of all ages to create.
I have always had a passion for the arts, traveling and gaming. I have been a gamer and have enjoyed tabletop games like GURPS and D&D, as well as online platforms like World of Warcraft and Asheron's Call.
