This one hour class is designed for students aged 9 to 12, who struggle with the basic challenges of "putting words to paper." In this class students will be encouraged to "start writing" in order to become comfortable with the entire process. Students will gain confidence that will empower them to tackle future writing challenges for school assignments as well as their own personal writing aspirations. The goal of this class is to support and encourage hesitant writers to gain trust in their own ideas. We will discuss and address individual writing challenges, and discover ways to conquer those challenges. Students will have fun learning that their ideas are valid as we create our own short paragraphs using shared ideas, props and games.

Students will need a notebook, a pencil and an eraser for class. Each student is also invited to bring one "prop" to class to be used in a creative writing activity. This item, or prop, can be as simple as a special stuffed animal or as odd as a piece of equipment for a science experiment.
