Students will be assessed using weekly quizzes posted in Google Classroom (40 points), weekly discussion board participation (20 points) and Unit Exit Summary (40 points) Weekly instructor feed back will be submitted to students via the Outschool messaging app. The rubric for the summary will be posted upon class enrollment. Together learners will explore the basic concepts of marine ecology. Concepts in this course provide a deeper look into the physical and chemical characteristics of coral reefs and the interactions between organisms of these ecosystems and their habitat. This course is part of a series in marine ecology which include: Introduction to Marine Ecology, Estuary Expeditions and Open Ocean Life: Top to Bottom Each week students will be assigned a web quest and online classroom discussion to serve as a leaping point for live class discussion and concept exploration. Class time will include a combination of ppt presentations, student collaboration and concept application. Weekly web quests and discussion questions will be posted one week before live class time is scheduled.

- Identify the organisms that build reef ecosystems.
- Describe the conditions for reef growth.
- Describe each type of coral reef.
- Describe coral reef food webs.
