수업 소개
Have funny ideas, characters, or concepts, and would like guidance in getting them onto the page or stage? Do you love to make people laugh? Do you own a fake mustache, or 10? Do you like to wear bagels and/or other baked goods as hats? Do you speak goat? Do you like to put on epic shows in your living room to your adoring fans of family and friends? Then this class is for you! We’ll dive into multiple aspects and avenues of comedy and explore and generate ideas together. Develop the comedy muscle and find your comedic voice so that your creativity and hilarity flow freely! Walk away with working monologues, sketches, stories, and jokes. “Class Clowns” welcome and encouraged! Week 1: Character Development and Monologue Writing & Performance Week 2: Sketch Comedy: Collaborative Writing & Performance Week 3: Storytelling & Stand Up Comedy Week 4: Current Events, Parody, and Genre Writing & Performance No prior knowledge of comedic writing and performance is required, just a desire to be creative, supportive, and have fun! Short weekly homework assignments will include idea generation worksheets and templates to prepare for the following week's class. This class will be taught by Thom Vacca, a comedian, actor, and teacher. Thom has trained and performed in the major improv comedy theaters in Chicago and Los Angeles since 2004. He also is a homeschool instructor with Aspen Learning, an innovative education company located in Santa Monica, CA. Thom has worked with students in Pre-K through college in core curriculum and enrichment courses. He holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts. P.S. I will supply Character Development Worksheets, Sketch Comedy Templates, Storytelling Prompts, and Genre Writing Worksheets. Students will need to supply their own journal and pen/pencil.
