This class is aimed at students who are struggling with the goal of becoming more independent in life as they prepare to leave home and work or go to school on their own.

We will cover the topics of time management, task management, and the specific goals that would be involved for the individual student that they are feeling intimidated about or unprepared for. We'll discuss the home as a machine for living, and what organizational style gives the learner the most energy, so that they can set up and organize areas in their space for life admin, for study, and for other necessary things like cooking, getting dressed for work, and keeping track of paper work.

Learners will take a 50 minute class once a week, live, online. We'll start each week with a discussion of the goals for the week and how the learner did.

Learners will receive homework, write reflections, and post questions in the classroom. The instructor will work closely with the student, focussing on their individual goals, challenges, and the skills needed. Some classes will present life skills or time management skills, before moving onto specific goals that we plan to cover that week.

Students are not required to have any previous knowledge or experience before taking this class.

학습 목표
Learning goals:
Students will improve their understanding of how to create a list of goals for a year's quarter (three months). We will go over how to begin tackling those goals--both academic and non-academic, using strategies that "bolster" each chunk of time spent working on those goals. This will include experimenting with different strategies: collaborating with a friend, setting a timer, having an accountability buddy, creating a list that breaks down the goal into its component parts, etc. Afterwards we will assess which strategies and techniques were most successful.

Writers and independent contractors have always needed to find the means to figure out what their goals are, figure out a strategy by which they can achieve that goal, and then find ways to bolster and structure their life so that they can tackle one large goal in small bites of work. For over twenty-five years, I've thrived as an academic and independent writing instructor, using techniques to self-structure my days and projects as well as coaching others on how to get organized, avoid procrastination, and set achievable goals. With a lively interest in the science around attention, focus, time management, and procrastination in our modern world, I've done extensive reading and thinking on the subject, and now I'm ready to bring out the best in your learner.
