In this 5-day camp, we will meet and learn about 3 amazing species of geckos and 2 incredible species of frogs who have called my rescue home. Monday, we will hang out with Zeke and Teddy the pacman frogs. Tuesday we will meet one of the most popular pet reptiles, the leopard gecko. Wednesday is all about crested geckos. Thursday we will meet Professor X, a gorgeous but grumpy tokay gecko. Then, we will finish our week off by meeting a flying gecko, and then recapping all the amazing animals we've learned about!
We will start Monday off with introductions, then dive in! Learners will get to see exactly what day-to-day life in a reptile and amphibian rescue is like. We will first explore the animal's enclosure, discussing each aspect and why it is important. Then we will meet the fun cold-blooded friends who call these enclosures home, and talk all about their day-to-day care! Lastly, learners will get to see a LIVE feeding (subject to animals' willingness to cooperate). Learners are encouraged to ask questions and engage in conversation with each other throughout the class. They may also feel free to take notes or draw pictures of the animals they're meeting. We'll take the last 5 minutes of class to discuss the things we learned, and show off any drawings!
On the last day of class, learners will have the opportunity to suggest names for our 3 newest family members and we will vote on what their official names will be!
No extra materials are required for this class, but if students own a reptile or amphibian they are encouraged to bring them along to say hello!
