Students will be able to examine the rise of the Mongol Empire during the middle ages, including the conquests of Genghis Khan and Kublai Khan.
Students will be able to describe Kublai Khan’s conquest of China, and explain how he was able to maintain control
of the Yuan Empire. 
Students will be able to summarize the effects of the Mongolian empires on the Silk Roads, including the importance
of Marco Polo’s travels on the spread of Chinese technology and Eurasian trade.

I majored in history education and I am certified to teach History in grades 7-12 (ages 11-18). I have been teaching Medieval World History for 15 years which covers the years 400 CE-1600's CE. Medieval World History isn't just the Middle Ages of Europe, it includes all of these Empires during that time period: Chinese, Mongolian, Japanese, Byzantine, Islamic, West African, Middle Ages in Europe, Foundations of the Renaissance, Renaissance and Reformation, Scientific Revolution, Indigenous Civilizations of the Americas, and the Age of Exploration.

We will refer to Marco Polo's book "The Travels of Marco Polo" some in this class as a primary source.
