수업 소개

This is a BEGINNER class for those just starting to learn multiplication or for those who need a motivating and engaging refresher. Students should be able to count up by 1s at the very least. 

In this class, students will learn how to represent multiplication sentences using equal groups. Students will learn math vocabulary words such as factor and product. Instructor will model a multiplication sentence equal groups set up with M&Ms candy to show the same number of candy in each group. For guided practice, we will complete a few multiplication sentences together showing equal groups. Thereafter, students will write multiplication sentences of their choice and show understanding with equal groups. 

Student will demonstrate a word problem that he/she creates with equal groups as class exit ticket. 

This class will run only if there are at least 3 learners enrolled.

수업 자료

Students will need at least 72 pieces of candy such as M&Ms, Reese's pieces, Skittles, or cereal (such as Fruit Loops, Lucky Charm, etc). Students will need a tray or big paper/plastic plate.

I am Ms. Loretta! I have taught K-12 (for more than 15 years) and higher education levels (undergraduate and graduate students). I taught first grade and fourth grade before becoming a reading specialist. I used to also teach Sunday School to Kindergartners and high schoolers! I am currently a university lecturer. As a reading specialist and a lecturer in the School of Education, I am well versed with the various strategies that will be helpful for striving readers. I am also a dog trainer and work with a lot of rescued dogs. My family rescued and adopted our five dogs from Kuwait! I believe that we learn by doing when engaged in social interaction with others.
