Ni Hao! Gung hay fat choy! Hello! Happy (Chinese) New Year! Let's travel to China! This is going to be a celebration you won't soon forget! I am so excited to welcome you to our fabulous Chinese New Year party! (Also called Lunar New Year or Spring Festival.) Together we will learn more about this magical holiday of dragons, firecrackers, traditions, food and family! We will talk about why everyone wants special red envelopes, what auspicious food is, plus the history and traditions of Chinese New Year and much, much more! For example, did you know that Chinese New Year is one of the biggest holiday celebrations on the planet with 1/4 of the world's population celebrating? We will also learn about zodiac animals and find out what animal your student has according to their birth year. We will also see real footage and images from celebrations in China from the Smithsonian Museum of Asian Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum! Wow! Together we will be making a gorgeous red paper prosperity lantern that students can hang up or play with to celebrate the New Year. (Minimal supplies are required and are listed in the supplies section.) We will also be reading a special story to learn more about Chinese New Year. I am thrilled to bring you this class as China is very close to my heart. I am part Chinese with family coming from the Guangdong province in Southern China. I have been celebrating Chinese New Year throughout my life. I have also taught many Chinese students living in China for 2 years who loved to share their holiday excitement with me. I look forward to see you in my class!

Welcome!
When students are interested in what they are doing, learning they will WANT to learn! I hope that your students will love to learn and become lifelong learners. I want all children to feel comfortable, engaged, encouraged and have fun in my classes I have worked with students from ages 0-14 for over 20 years. I have held several other jobs than teaching which I adored but at this point this is my passion.
My teaching experience comes from multiple sources. Online I have taught thousands of children overseas to learn English through VIPKid. VIPKid (now VIPTeacher) is known for their vigorous standards and training. I have also taught for an elite online program, called Synthesis. Synthesis is an elite program created by the one of the founders of Ad Astra. (Ad Astra is the school that Elon Musk created at SpaceX.) I have also taught thousands of children right here on Outschool since 2020.
Offline teaching experience comes from teaching at a Montessori pre-school, teaching swim and gym classes, summer camps and Sunday school. I also have taught students with a wide range of mental and physical abilities. All students are welcome in my classes and I am willing to make accommodations if requested.
My education consists of a BA in psychology, a BA in Conflict Resolution, TESL, TEOFL, over 40 online teaching certificates, mental health first aid certification, and palliative care certification.
I have two children who are everything to me. I homeschool them and we love going on adventures together. In my spare time I love travelling, baking, camping, Disney, swimming, the beach, water activities, working out, reading and all things full of sparkle and glitter! You can always find me taking a course or earning some kind of certificate.
