Overview:
These customized Spanish tutoring sessions are available for children ages 6-10.

My goal in offering Spanish tutoring is to help each child move closer toward being fully bilingual, including speaking, reading, and writing. I have designed these tutoring sessions to be customizable, but structured. Parents must fill out a "Language Level Assessment" form so that I can have an idea of where their child is currently. From there, with input from the parents, I can decide the best course of action. Students review old material, learn new material, practice with the material, and engage in activities that reinforce new concepts. Communication with parents is necessary for success and there will be times when a student has “homework” or an “extension activity.”

Class Structure:
Each class is different. For a younger student, class may start with a greeting song, then move to a Google Slides presentation about weather vocabulary, then a song or two related to the weather vocabulary, then interaction completely in Spanish about how a person should dress in different weather, and end with an explanation of homework and a good-bye song. For an older student, class may start with a conversational greeting, then move to a Google Slides review of verb conjugation, then move to writing a simple story using 5 sentences, then act out the story using visuals and Spanish conversation, and end with an explanation of homework and a good-bye.

Teaching Style:
These tutoring sessions include as many visuals and songs as possible, where appropriate. Flashcards, Google Slides presentations, and other images or visuals are included. Props are also used to keep students engaged. Activities change frequently and vary in type so students don’t get bored. I take notes and communicate with parents. Please remember, you can always watch the recordings after the class ends!
 
Prerequisites:
Tutoring sessions are appropriate for children who are at an advanced-beginner level and beyond. Children who are good candidates for tutoring know their basic Spanish vocabulary, such as colors, animals, numbers, weather words, etc. Children may or may not read in any language, based on their age. Ideally, a child will feel interested and motivated prior to enrolling.

Please note that completion of the "Language Level Assessment" Form is required PRIOR to a student's first session.
