OVERVIEW; In this Minimus Latin Craft Class Learners will complete a new craft activity each week, as we learn about the Ancient Roman culture and their daily life. We will learn (practice) the Latin words for each project, but previous Latin classes are not required. Minimus Latin students will reinforce their Latin knowledge with these hands on crafts. Learners that are new to the Latin language will be gently encouraged to practice the Latin vocabulary as we craft together. Learners...

As a Latin Language and Roman Culture teacher for many years, I offer these craft classes just for fun!
Week 1 Mosaics 1. Dried beans, peas or rice. 2. Glue- tacky glue works best, then Elmers glue but glue sticks will not secure the weight. 3. Cardboard or poster board for base. Options: Multi-colored play doh. We can roll into balls. Multi-colored construction paper. We’ll tear/cut it up. Lightweight beads. Week 2 Wax Tablet 1. Small framed chalkboard (Dollar Store) 2. Playdoh, Polymer Clay 3. Ziploc for storage. Options: Cardboard or poster board 5x7, picture frame (with glass removed) 5 x 7 Week 3 Centurion Medallion 1. Cardboard/Poster board Circle 2. Tin foil 3. String, yarn, or ribbon Week 4 Beads 1. Colorful construction or scrapbook paper. 2. White Glue, double sided tape dots or tape. 3. Large nail (or similar) to wrap bead around 4. Clear nail polish Options: Newspaper, magazines or old sale flyers.
Some of these crafts require the use of scissors. Parents should remain near.
