Orton-Gillingham 커리큘럼 기반
So often, once basic letter sounds are mastered, explicit teaching of how to decode or divide and read multi-syllable words is not given on a regular basis. Some kids learn how to memorize common two syllable words, but then do not know how to attack words they have not seen before and they get frustrated and start guessing games. By the time they get to three and four syllable words in upper elementary school, they are lost at how to even begin reading the words and reading comprehension...

- Students will learn the Orton Gillingham Method of syllable division to effectively decode multi-syllable words, fostering strong reading skills through explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction.
I have taught in my homeschool for 20+ years and tutored for 10+ years online, and have a journalism degree from PSU. I am IMSE Orton-Gillingham trained in phonics and reading instruction and am a self described word-nerd and grammar geek. I love sharing what I love with students!

Orton-Gillingham based instruction is excellent for all learners, including those with dyslexia.
Students should know their vowel sounds (both long and short), and be able to attempt to read and write 2 syllable words.
For the first class, your student will need pencil, a highlighter or marker, and some index cards (any size or color) OR slips of paper about the size of index cards. Students can switch to paper and pencil, or a dry erase board with a marker when they feel confident they understand the concept of syllable division. I will model both ways in each class.
All words and patterns will be taken from resources on The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE).
