This 2-hour class is a great opportunity to bake with our dedicated chef instructors, learning the true art and form of the French Macaron.  We work methodically, and if the direction is able to be followed, and learners are prepared we love to see all ages in class!  (If you have a really young baker please check out our class "My Adult and Me Baking French Macarons" class, it is awesome to have families baking together) 
Because this is a critical skills class we always have two chef instructors, one lead, and one moderator to ensure everything runs smoothly in classes with more than 4 enrolled.  As chefs and pastry instructors we have been teaching brick and mortar, and virtually for over 16 years, and we absolutely get a huge kick out of it. The simple fact is, we love teaching our young learners the art and magic in all kinds of pastry.  

*PARENTS*
Please read the *entire description + required equipment and inventory* - you may not have the required items for this class... yet!  
This course is for bakers ready to challenge themselves. Some baking experience is helpful. Like real pastry chefs, your learners will be using metric scales and measures so please read the full class description so you know what to expect and what your learner will need for equipment and inventory.  
**There are no volume measures for this class.  A kitchen scale with gram measures is a required piece of equipment as is a candy thermometer.**

*SKILL LEVEL*
Perfect for advanced student bakers who have already conquered French meringue technique and want to up their game and repertoire, looking to learn new skills, and experienced bakers looking to master a new and impressive dessert. We are absolutely looking for those over-achievers.  Learners who are really dedicated to this art - we want to help you succeed.

*OVERVIEW*
Your kids are about to discover how to master the art of the French Macaron with the Italian Technique! It will be both a fun challenge and develop some incredible skills in the kitchen that will stay with them forever. Macarons are tricky, but with a few handy tips they will soon be making perfect macarons every time. Let's make YOUR macarons bakery worthy! We do know that anyone can make a filled almond meringue cookie but not everyone has the skill to turn out delicious and lovely macarons each and every time with delicate lacy feet, full interiors, and that perfect crisp exterior that is both smooth and shiny - and when your learner has completed this course they surely will.  Learn the secrets from a professional pastry chef at ensuring the perfect rise, the correct temps, the ideal meringue. 

Students will follow our easy step-by-step instructions, including an overhead camera view, and learn important tips and secrets to succeed as a chef. Please see the Learner Supply List below which outlines the ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT your learner will need to proceed.  

*ABOUT*
This is a LIVE class, which means there is ONE session.  We ARE baking in LIVE / REAL TIME with your learners. Your learner can access course materials for 30 days beyond the live class and if additional questions arise, we are always happy to respond. 

*MATERIALS*
Students are asked to follow our step-by-step guidance and recipe that clearly outlines the entire process.

REQUIRED Equipment List:
Stand Mixer With Whisk Attachment
Kitchen Scale (with GRAM measures)
Small saucepan
Candy thermometer (or digital immersion thermometer)
Bowls of various sizes
Sifter or small hole sieve 
Piping bag with Wilton 1A (can use smaller tips for character work #11 or #12 tip)
Cookie Sheet(s)
Parchment paper or Silpat mat(s)
Macaron Template (provided)
Stovetop and Oven
Oven thermometer (not required but incredibly helpful to ensure your oven is doing its job!)

Ingredients:
Almond Flour
Fine Granulated Caster Sugar(s)
Confectioners/icing Sugar
Egg Whites
Gel Color (optional - if you want colored macarons)

Several filling recipes will be provided in the classroom well before our session! So please feel free to prep whatever filling is your favorite!

Chefs are available during the class week for questions, clarifications, advice, and feedback.

*POLICIES*
As chefs and pastry instructors we have been teaching for over 16 years (the last 3 on Outschool for little learners too!).   You really cannot find better classes to learn how to master techniques in culinary and pastry arts.  
We do not provide refunds if you miss a class unless there is an emergency (on a case by case basis), the recording will be available in the classroom for you to view and our chefs are more than happy to provide additional instruction if required or we will offer you a no-cost transfer to a different class, when available.
