In this Book-to-Movie Club we read and discuss one middle-grade novel over the course of three weeks, then discuss its movie version during the fourth week. As an educator, I bring 20+ years of professional experience centering stories and storytellers. I currently teach literature and creative writing courses as an adjunct professor for an established university while freelancing as an editor (& educator!). I've worked as a youth services librarian, k-8 substitute teacher, content writer, arts journalist, and fiction & nonfiction editor of a literary journal. I have a BA, MFA, and MLIS.

Sometimes I use approved third-party tools Kahoot (quiz game) and YouTube clips. When I use YouTube I share my screen. Clips are rarely over 3 minutes and always relevant to the story. When I use Kahoot I create the reading comprehension quiz game myself and students play the game together towards the end of class.
