Small Steps is the spin off sequel to the book Holes by Louis Sachar. In this class, learners will be taught a variety of graphic organizers to help with comprehension of a story. The types of graphic organizers I will teacher are squares, web, powerpoint, and word document organizer. Students will have video chat classes twice a week. Each video chat will start by discussing the chapters read for homework in the first fifteen minutes. The next ten minutes, we will go over a graphic organizer...
Students will learn comprehension strategies through graphic organizers. Students will also be able to make connections to the story.
I have taught this book in the classroom as well as in private tutoring sessions. I have a variety of book clubs on Outschool and own a tutoring center in New Jersey where we have a variety of book clubs as well! I love helping the children to engage in reading and learn to love reading. Its a valuable lesson to learn how to get lost in a book!
