Students will read The BFG by Roald Dahl.
Students will share their unique ideas and experiences as they relate to the book.
Students will listen respectfully and offer encouragement to support the ideas of others.
Students will compare and contrast with characters, setting, and the main events of the story.
Students will connect with other classmates in a shared experience of reading the book together.

Required reading for each class is listed above in the description. Students are expected to read the chapters assigned before each class time to the best of their ability.

Students may read ahead but will not be able to comment on the events that take place in that section of the book until we reach the week designated for discussion of those chapters.

The reading assigned is broken down into two reading assignments and two classes per week in order to build momentum and avoid overwhelm.

Students will be assessed based on their participation, which includes sharing their ideas, being an active part of the discussion in a way that feels comfortable to them (which allows for them to grow and blossom in this area), as well as being respectful and kind when listening to and considering the ideas of others.
