Learners will be taught the level 1 sight words from the Dolch Vocabulary word list. These words are the most frequently used words in the English Language. Practicing and learning these words as a beginning reader will boost students progress and confidence in reading. This course will use sight reading practice techniques such as writing, recognition, spelling, pronunciation, and creating sentences. Students will practice beginner level reading skills, gain confidence in reading, students will practice working with a group, following directions, taking turns, using words currently in a sentence, building vocabulary, spelling skills, and word recognition.
Mrs. Kim has a background in English from Charter Oak State College and holds a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification from Glasgow University in Scotland, UK. Mrs. Kim has worked with Pre-k through 6th graders in English and reading. She has taught English online to over four hundred Chinese students. She currently teachers core subjects including English and reading at an online academy.
