This class is designed for beginners who have had little to no experience with the piano. Each week new skills and songs will be introduced, learners will learn proper hand position, how to read the notes in the bass and treble clef, finger dexterity and strengthening exercises, and songs! Learners will be given pdf documents after class each week to help guide their practice between classes. It is important that learners practice throughout the week not just during class. I have two bachelors degrees in music (BA in Music and BM in Music Therapy). As part of my music therapy program I spent a lot of time playing piano!
Learners should have access to a piano or keyboard with at least 3 octaves (24 white keys). Learners should be able to sit properly at their instrument with their arms forming just about a 90 degree angle at the elbow. It would be helpful if I could see learner's hands on the keyboard or piano.
