Students will need to own a guitar that is comfortable for young hands to hold. An adult will need to help tune the guitar daily for students possibly; I will give easy instructions to adults on how to tune the needed string(s). Students will learn to play melodies each week, focusing on reading notes from the treble clef staff. Students will need to purchase two (or more) books; these books will be used for providing music to read. Students will develop their skills in reading...
The goals for this course will be to learn how to read and perform guitar music, write simple melodies with guidance and begin reading elementary rhythms.
I have been teaching guitar since I was in high school. I have had almost 2 decades of experience working in the elementary classroom and really try to connect with students to help them understand and enjoy the language of music.

I do suggest that parents sit with their children as they watch the lesson to help their young children understand and/or maneuver their hands appropriately around the instrument. Also, parents will need to watch the lesson on how to tune the guitar, NO LITTLE CHILDREN SHOULD ATTEMPT TO TUNE THE GUITAR FOR MY COURSE.
