This 6-week bundle of music is for students who want to learn piano in a small group environment. This class is for later beginners who have had some lessons before and wish to continue their studies. We will use a method book to build on previous knowledge and introduce students to more and more challenging material gradually over time. I use the Alfred series for the group class. Our goal is to become more proficient in piano playing, music notation and chord-chart reading, accompaniment playing, and understanding music theory.
I am a classically trained pianist and singer-songwriter with a BA in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University. I was certified to teach Music grades EC-12 in the State of Texas for many years. I have taught private piano, singing, and theory lessons for over a decade to students from ages 4 all the way to adults post-retirement.
A piano or keyboard and a pencil for taking notes is needed for this class. The Alfred Adult Basic Level 1 book may be recommended, depending on the direction we take in any given class. Otherwise, I will provide sheet music.
