We will spend 4 weeks working together to build habits that lead to a clean, decluttered and organized bedroom space. Each week, two original video lessons and a printable Habit Builder page will be posted directly into the classroom. Students will use simple steps and strategies to get a messy space tidied up and clean.
This class will be particularly helpful for those with VERY messy spaces. The timer strategy is also very beneficial for students who struggle with executive function and motivation (ADHD etc).
Learners will need a garbage bag, recycling bins (as used in your area), and a donatable donations box. During the final week especially, learners will need access to a broom or vacuum, a damp cloth, and whatever tools your family uses for dusting. Learners will need access to a timer to work on the habits between video sessions (while any timer on a phone or device is sufficient, however an egg timer or simple kitchen timer may help students to NOT get distracted by other apps and things on a device).
We will use many strategies from author Dana K. White's home management books. Students will not need the books, but I will give clear references to her work when we use terms she coined such as the "Visibility Rule" "Clutter Threshold" and "Container Concept."
