Students will learn vocabulary terms such as organelle, eukaryotic, prokaryotic. We will discuss each of the organelles in an animal cell and discuss their functions. Organelles we will cover will be: cell membrane, nucleus, nucleolus, centrosome, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough), golgi apparatus, lysosomes, peroxisomes, vesicles, ribosomes, cytoskeleton. We will discuss prokaryotic and eukaryotic. They will be able to distinguish the difference between the two. By the end of the class, students will be able to decide if an animal cell, plant cell, and bacteria cell is eukaryotic or prokaryotic.
