수업 소개
This is a beginner level step by step instructional class on how to paint a specific painting each week, using acrylic paint! Student artists will create a new project every week. The topics we will paint are landscapes, nature, still life, animals, birds, sea life and so much more! While there is no right or wrong in art, we can always increase our skills through practice and knowledge of how to use the 'tools' we have available in art making. This will be a supportive environment for students to experiment and create their personal masterpieces. Students will learn how to mix paints. The teacher will verbally give instructions on how to mix colors. The teacher will only demonstrate visually how to mix a color if it is a color the teacher does not already have on hand or if a student specifically asks the teacher for a demonstration on how to mix a color. Students will learn to apply paints to canvas, use basic art vocabulary words, and follow instructions in a fun group class with an instructor with years of both art and teaching experience. The instructor will help guide each student to success and the step-by-step process allows all students to walk away with a successful painting! No prior experience is needed, just a positive attitude! As we paint, students will be able to ask questions and share progress with one another. I also like to engage students in learning about different techniques. The teacher will demonstrate techniques for the students to mimic during the step by step instructions of a specific painting. There will not be a separate lesson specifically on techniques. The techniques taught will vary from week to week. The techniques taught may include but are not limited to: blending, layering, texture, creating contrast, stippling, pointillism, dry brushing, highlighting, and stamping. The techniques taught will be specific to the painting. I try and wait for everyone before moving on to the next step in a painting. However, I do have to keep moving so other students do not lose interest in the painting. Students are welcome to seek feedback throughout the class. Most students will be done by the end of class but some students may need some time after class to finish up. Everyone works at a different speed and it is better to take our time than to rush! If time allows the teacher will provide an extension activity. Extension activities may include but are not limited to: fun facts related to the lesson, a story on the theme, or slides on various art topics. The only prior skill required is the ability to follow detailed visual and verbal directions. *If this class interests your child please sign up. Students will learn how to paint, when to clean paint brushes, how to mix colors, basic art vocabulary as it relates to color and paint, how to paint on canvas or canvas paper, follow step by step instructions, use their imaginations and creativity, and have fun!
This class is for budding artists who know that art isn't about making an exact replica of the teacher's art piece.
Due to the variety of skill sets in the class, I try to pace the class to meet all students' needs, but this isn't always possible.

This is class is direct instruction with some room for free expression. I do not coerce participation in discussions; they can choose to participate as much or as little as they desire.
Students are also free to ask questions and make comments at any point. Some of my classes are very talkative and some of my classes are really quiet. It really depends on the dynamic of the group. I also don’t force learners to “follow along”, however, many of my learners appreciate the structure my lessons provide. Ultimately, it’s up to your learner to decide exactly how they want their art to turn out.
This class is geared towards beginners, however, intermediate students are welcome!
*Acrylic paint does not wash off clothing so you may want to provide a large oversized t-shirt, apron or smock for your learner to wear.

A canvas or canvas paper for each week you paint with me. A 9x12 canvas is recommended. Lessons are geared towards a canvas of this size. Larger canvases will take longer and students with larger canvases may fall behind and have to finish their painting after class on their own. Acrylic paint-students are always free to make color changes. Red, Yellow, and Blue are primary colors and can not be mixed. White and black can not be mixed. It is recommended to have red, yellow, blue, white and black on hand at a minimum. A variety of different sizes of paint brushes. Paper towel Cup of clean water for rinsing between colors Palette or Paper plate Pencil Eraser *Table top easel is fine but not necessary. Painting flat on a table may be easier for some students. Please position ALL supplies on same side of table next to the hand you paint with. Depending on easel/table painting: Computer/device should be faced directly ahead OR on the opposite side of painting hand for head-on viewing of the painting steps.
