This is a one-session class that will end with each student having created their own masterpiece that pops up! We will begin class by exploring Vincent van Gogh's famous painting, Starry Night. Then, together we will draw in Van Gogh's unique style to create a bright background. Finally we will make and attach 3D pop ups! I have taught elementary art for over 16 years and each of my lessons is developed thoughtfully and practiced ahead of time keeping in mind student skill level and interests. I am passionate about helping young artists find their unique artistic voices, and therefore I balance guided drawing with creative expression in this lesson. I provide positive encouragement to students throughout our class time and hope they enjoy this project as much as I do.

Please have the following materials ready for our lesson: -Colored card stock or construction paper (9x12 or 8.5x11) in the following colors: blue, black, green, red, orange, yellow and purple (**Colored card stock is recommended to help support the pop up elements.) -Scissors -Pencil -Oil pastels -Glue stick -Clear tape -Empty toilet paper roll (**This is optional and only to hold your picture up if you'd like. A rolled piece of card stock would work too.) -A few paper towels to wipe fingers as we go **You may also want a piece of poster board or large paper to cover the work area.

Some materials such as glue and scissors may require parental guidance. In our class I will explain how to use our art supplies safely, but you know your child best and can decide whether or not they will need your hands on help to cut and glue.
