Have you ever noticed that some animals are perfectly designed for their ecosystems? Polar bears have thick blubber to keep them warm in freezing temperatures, while fennec foxes have fur-covered feet to protect them from the hot sand. Even their behaviors help them survive! In the Animal Adaptation Adventures camp, we will dive into some of the most unique characteristics of animals found all around the world and investigate the challenges that caused them to adapt. From arctic temperatures to ferocious predators to extended droughts, animals all experience challenges! Using LIVE ANIMALS, incredible photos, entertaining videos, and engaging discussions, we will explore animals from around the world and see how they have learned to survive. This camp is perfect for your animal-loving kiddos and will empower them to take action in caring for our planet. Each day will focus on a new ecosystem challenge and will include dozens of examples of how animals have adapted to overcome it. I can’t wait to explore these amazing animal adaptations with your learners. Day 1: What is an adaptation? Day 2: Avoiding predators Day 3: Finding food Day 4: Surviving the climate Day 5: Attracting a mate

Hi there!
My name is Sarah and I am so excited to explore wildlife, science, and conservation with your learner. I was born and raised in the Metroparks of Ohio, but I currently call the Sonoran Desert of Arizona my home.
I have had a strong love for wildlife and nature for my whole life and have built my career around it. In 2017, I graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Conservation Biology and Ecology. I am a Certified Environmental Educator in Arizona and a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.
After college, I worked on several wildlife studies in the field studying species like the western diamondback rattlesnake, spectacled rattlesnakes, and Bahamian rock iguanas. I gained experience as an informal educator developing programs for schools and homeschool students at the Phoenix Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, South Mountain Environmental Education Center, and SeaLife Aquarium.
At the start of COVID, I founded an organization that creates wildlife and conservation STEM resources for K-8 students, including a science curriculum program that teaches core science subjects with an engaging animal twist.
My greatest objective as an educator is to make science FUN. My classes cover important science topics while using wildlife and nature as our driving forces.
