This will be an introduction to what the study of Classical Greek entails. We will learn to count in Greek and learn about the alphabet. We will also look at some art and literature from Classical Greece, from mythology to archaeology. Students will have a chance to ask any questions they have about studying the world of the Greeks, and the atmosphere will be relaxed and encouraging for students to want to find out more about the fascinating world of Antiquity. Students will have an overview of the numbers in Greek and their presence in English, the Greek alphabet, Greek gods, art and literature. They will have the tools to decide if they want to continue learning Greek.
I hold a degree in Classical Philology (Latin, Greek, CLassical Civilisation) from the University of Barcelona. I have gained qualified teacher status in Spain and the United Kingdom, and have been teaching Latin, Greek and foreign languages for over 15 years.
We will refer to myths from Ancient Greece, and the standards of behaviour and religion are those corresponding to the historical period. References to violent attitudes are possible.
