We will explore the Post Impressionists and Expressionists and the Art Movements they inspired. We mix Art History with Painting and Drawing. We will study the great  Post Impressionists and Expressionists - Chagall, Klimt, Seurat, Marc, and Munch, and we will create a work of art inspired by each artist. Students will learn to critically look at the works of great artists. Students will learn art techniques in different media.

We will learn about art basics including color, lines, subject matter, perspective, and techniques. We will look at art by the masters and discuss what they mean to us. Then we will create a work of art inspired by the art of the masters in this ongoing course. 

Our Curriculum:
Day 1: We will study Marc Chagall
Day 2: We will study Gustav Klimt
Day 3: We will study Georges Seurat
Day 4: We will study Franz Marc
Day 5: We will study Edvard Munch

Materials needed for this class:
A set of Liquid Acrylic or Tempera Paints (See notes below)
A set of Paintbrushes (including at least flats and rounds)
A palette
A pencil (regular or at least a 2H)
An eraser
Mixed media art paper of at least 9 X 12 inches
Two cups half-filled with water
Paper towels or rags for cleaning brushes and hands
For Day 5 you will need CHALK PASTELS

Notes: 
* If you are using tube acrylics, you will need an acrylic medium to mix with them. Buy a matte or low gloss medium. This should be available where you purchased your paints. You will also need an artist plastic palette to properly mix your paints.
* Watercolor Pan Sets will not work for this class
* You will need CHALK PASTELS for Day 5. Paints, oil pastels, color pencils, etc. will not work for this project.

A note about paints: It is best to have either liquid acrylic or Tempera paints. Tempera paints are inexpensive paints. They are non-toxic and easily washable You can find them on Amazon. This set is the bare minimum on Amazon "Crayola Tempera Paint Set, 2-Ounce, 6 Count" (it costs about $8.00). 
You will also need a set of CHALK Pastels. This is a good set on Amazon "Mungyo Soft Pastel Set of 48 Assorted Colors Square Chalk" (it costs about $7.00).
