수업 소개
Who said math has to be boring? In this camp, we'll discover how much fun math can be by applying mathematical concepts to art, games, and even cooking! Students will be encouraged to explore questions as they arise throughout camp activities, and to engage all of their imagination and curiosity. They will be having so much fun, they won't even realize how much they're learning! This camp is suitable to both those already familiar with these concepts but wanting to take a deeper dive into them, and those brand new to the concepts. I am an experienced elementary school teacher, who believes in teaching math through a lens of exploration. This camp is perfect whether you have taken my previous Art of Math camp or not. All new concepts and activities will be featured. Day 1 - Integers: On the first day of camp, we will be exploring both positive and negative integers, how to compare and order them using a number line, and how to add and subtract them. We will play active games, craft our own interactive number lines, and design our own comics. Day 2 - Cartesian coordinates: On the second day of camp, we will be learning how to use the Cartesian coordinate system. We will play battleship and maze games, unveil mystery pictures through drawing and create our own. Day 3 - Decimals: On the third day of camp, we will be learning decimal place value, how to represent decimals and how to compare them. We will challenge ourselves with Kahoot, play a competitive dice game, collage a place value chart, and make a mosaic. Day 4 - Fractions: On the fourth day of camp, we will be learning how to compare and order fractions, how to find and create equivalent fractions, and how to add or subtract fractions. We will engage in brain teasers and would you rather questions, paint fraction donuts, cut fraction strip robots and make fruit salad and yogurt dip we can eat! At the end of camp, each camper will receive a certificate recognizing their unique contributions to our camp math studio.

학부모 가이드
Parents may wish to supervise some art activities, in order to ensure that mess remains minimal. They may also wish to supervise the use of scissors. Kahoot will be used to play a game comparing decimals. Students can join the game through the use of a separate device or by opening a new window on the same device. Although this website meets Outschool's safety standards, parents may still wish to supervise its use. Breakout rooms will be used to allow learners to play a battleship game. I as the instructor will be physically present in each room through the use of different devices so that I may ensure continuation of supervision. Parents may wish to monitor their children's activities more closely during this time, while remaining off-camera as fits Outschool's policies.
