Have you heard of the African Big Five? Many people visit Africa hoping to see these magnificent animals. South Africa is the home to more than 20,000 different plants and a wide variety of mammals too. It is ranked sixth out of the world's 17 mega-diverse countries. In this class, we will be learning about some of the more famous animals found in Africa. I will teach you some facts about these magnificent creatures and then we will share our thoughts about them. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, with a specialisation in counselling. In the past, I have worked in primary and high schools offering individual & group counselling, life skills courses, and psychometric testing. I am currently working at a primary school as a learning support assistant. My interests lie in child development and mental health awareness. I have also always had a passion for wildlife and have done extensive research on all of my class topics.
Please could your child prepare to introduce themselves by comparing themselves to one animal. For example: "My name is Shelby and I think I'm like a bottle nose dolphin because they swim really fast".
