The African American oral history of storytelling is rooted in the tradition of the African griot. Learners will be introduced to the tradition of telling stories, passed down from generation to generation within the African-American culture. This class helps students comprehend various styles of traditional stories created throughout the African diaspora. Exposing students to the culture through selected stories, they are able to enhance their understanding of African American traditions.
