****This series of courses will satisfy the requirements (and then some) of the Texas TEKS (guidelines) for both 4th and 7th grades (the years in which Texas History is the main focus). Guidelines for both years are basically the same, but the 7th grade guidelines provide for more depth and breadth than the 4th grade guidelines.  As stated before, this course will satisfy both and will provide a wealth of knowledge about the Great State of Texas!***

"Adventures in Texas #2: Those Who Came Before", the second course in this six-part series, will cover the First Texans, Native Americans, European Explorers, Spaniards' Cultural Impact, Mexican Authorities, Colonists, and the Demand for Change.  (SEE BELOW for this course's schedule and lower for the series schedule.)

Week 1: First Texans, Native Americans of the Coastal Plains
Week 2:  Native Americans of the Mountains and Plains and Their Ways of Life, Pre-European Civilizations of the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas
Week 3:  European Exploration, Spaniard Settlements
Week 4:  Colonists, Empressarios, Relationship with the Mexican Government
Week 5:  Final Assessment, Culminating Project


All six courses in the "Adventures in Texas" Series will include the following concepts:  History, Citizenship, Geography/Map Skills, Vocabulary, Using Technology for Research and Creating Products, Important Citizens, and Cultural Extras (Arts, Food, Sciences, Locations, and More)!

We'll cover lots of our land every week in class with tasks such as the following:
*  discussion of the week's content;
*  in-class research tasks;
*  sharing of various findings;
*  break-out room tasks;
*  quizzes;
*  videos;
*  games;
*  and an overview of the upcoming week's work/homework.

Homework will include tasks such as those listed below.
*  Weekly Reading (documents and websites)
*  Vocabulary Practice
*  Discussion Board
*  Various Videos
*  Weekly Questions
*  Occasional Interviews/Surveys
*  Various Products (Written, Animoto, Padlet, etc.)
*  Culminating Project
