수업 소개
This course is designed for advance learners that already have the foundational skills of being able to recognize the alaphabet and numbers up to 20. In this fast-pace course, your learner will be exposed to kindergarten based language arts and math concepts. Each week, your learner will complete an arts and craft and science lesson. The weekly structure of this class will include daily calendar skills and self-check in. Self-check in's are an opportunity for the learners to briefly share something about their day and what they had for meals. This class is designed to encourage socialization among learners. Every first and third week of the month will be dedicated to a math lesson. There will be a different lessons planned out for your learner. The concepts presented each week will engage your learner on kindergarten readiness skills. Your learner gain the foundational understanding of addition and subtraction concepts. Children will be able to identify the three basic types of patterns, identifying and sorting 2 and 3 dimensional shapes, measurement skills, and number identification with relation to tally marks and ten frames. Every second and fourth week of the month will be dedicated to a particular language arts lesson. These lessons will vary per week. The weekly concepts presented to your child are kindergarten readiness skills. Your learner will understand the basics of sentence writing, such as capitalization at the beginning of a sentence and every sentence ends with a punctuation mark. Your child will be able to identify antonyms, synonyms, cause and effect, theme, and main idea. Each child will continue on sounding out words and increasing their language vocabulary through engaging classroom activities and games. Every Wednesday is devoted to a different arts and craft activity. Each arts and craft project is designed for your child to explore their creative side, while thoughtfully planning out their assigned craft. Thursdays are dedicated to the field of science. They will engage in random selected science topics to study and explore on the weekly basis. At least once a month, a science experiment will be performed by your child. These projects are carefully constructed for young learners to complete mostly independently. This will be an engaging class for your young learner. Your child will be positively encouraged through verbal praise, certificates of accomplishment, and plenty of high-fives and party dances. Your child will be encouraged to physically participate in physical movement, such as dancing, jumping, and jogging in place. Some lessons and activities will include games, cutting, pasting, and weekly printable materials will be sent out by Saturday of the previous week. The printable materials will be essential, as they will be used in class on the daily basis. This is an ongoing class that welcomes learners to join and leave, as desired. There will be activities where your child will be required to cut out items or objects, which will require extra supervision. For all cutting assignments, I will review with your child the proper way to handle scissors. There will be times during class, where your child will be encouraged to engage in light physical activities. Please ensure your child is working in an area where they have room to stand up, jump, and run in place. Please ensure your child has a safe work environment with area free and clear of objects potentially dangerous to the child.
If this class does not meet the minimal requirements, this class will be cancelled.

Students will need to bring printable materials to class everyday. In addition to the printable materials, your child will need crayons or markers, pencils, child safety scissors, glue or glue sticks, and a ruler.

Hello, my name is Dominique Mahon. I live in the wonderful Windy City, also known as Chicago. I am a mother of four beautiful daughters and grandmother of two beautiful children. I became a foster parent about 1 year ago and it has been very rewarding.
I possess my Masters in General Psychology and a Bachelors of Science in Healthcare Administration. I have 12 years of experience homeschooling my four children and five years of academic enrichment support for diverse learners in a homeschooling environment. My experience with academic enrichment support for diverse learners was specifically focused towards children ages 4 - 12 years old with behavioral and learning impairments. I have eight years of experience tutoring college-level adults in the areas of English Composition, Business Marketing and Strategies, and Childhood Development. I currently work with children ages 6 - 10 years old with moderate to severe autism. This involves planning, preparing, and running academic, occupational, and speech coursework. I have two years of experience performing academic testing and developing academic programming for autistic children. I have two years of experience learning how to develop and build upon appropriate goal-oriented occupational therapeutic programs for autistic children.
I enjoy teaching and engaging with young learners. I love watching their little eyes light up as they engage in learning while having fun. As a previous online student, I understand the challenges and diversity of learning through an online platform. I pledge to help build your child’s confidence and encourage their engagement through interactive play; while learning from the comfort of their homes.
