This one-time class will be an exciting and active story time! We will be reading and acting out the story, "Once Upon a Dragon's Fire" by Beatrice Blue. This is the same author/illustrator of "Once Upon a Unicorn Horn" (which is another popular story time class that I offer). I absolutely love how Beatrice Blue's stories transport the reader to a magical place and provide a positive message at the end of the story. "Once Upon a Dragon's Fire" is about two brave children who seek out to discover the truth about Dragons. They had always heard in stories how mean and scary dragons were. One day, when a big storm took out all of the warmth from the town, the two children believed it was all of the dragon's fault but soon discover that the dragon is just very sad and lonely. The children soon realize that the dragon is not at all what they had expected and that they cannot judge a book by its cover. There is an excellent message to this story, which I like to discuss with children at the end of class. My teaching style is very active, animated and inclusive. I love getting children just as excited as I am to use their imagination and immerse themselves into a story. At the end of this story we will discuss what the story was about, likes/dislikes, and I will prompt specific questions about the main characters/plot.
