•	Determine Central Ideas and Details: Students will develop the ability to identify main ideas and supporting details in reading passages, ensuring a clear understanding of the text's core message.
•	Make Logical Inferences: Students will improve their ability to draw logical conclusions from implied information in reading passages, a critical skill for answering inference questions on the SAT
•	Analyze Text Structure and Purpose: Students will learn to recognize various text structures (e.g., narrative, argumentative) and identify an author’s purpose, aiding in comprehension and interpretation.
•	Integrate and Interpret Quantitative Evidence: Students will acquire skills to interpret data from charts, graphs, and tables within reading passages and integrate this quantitative evidence with textual information.
•	Synthesize Information from Multiple Texts: Students will enhance their ability to synthesize information from different texts to form cohesive arguments, improving their analytical and critical thinking skills.
•	Use Transitions Effectively: Students will master the use of transitional phrases to connect ideas smoothly within and between paragraphs, enhancing the coherence and flow of their written responses.

Over the past fourteen years as an educator, I have specialized in enhancing vocabulary skills, reading comprehension, and grammar proficiency. My approach combines rigorous academic research with engaging, interactive learning experiences. No specific prerequisites are required. Students should have a basic understanding of English grammar and be eager to improve their reading and writing skills.

This course will use a range of different passages and text to practice SAT skills. 

Most passages will be drawn from officially released College Board exams (accessible here https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/practice/practice-tests ).

We may also discuss passages used in sample questions published by Khan Academy (accessible here https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/digital-sat ).

If students need additional support with the words in context section, the homework will likely include reading long passages from 18th and 19th century literature. The typical passages that are assigned are drawn from “On the Origin of Species” by Charles Darwin, “David Copperfield” by Charles Dickens, “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” by Arthur Conan Doyle, and “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen.
