Learners will learn that the writing process is different for everyone.
Learners will develop their own writing process by practicing and learning what works for them and what doesn't work for them.

I have a BA in Creative Writing. I have taken and continue to take writing classes to improve my writing expertise. I have written extensively in my life. I love to write and want to share that love of writing with students. There was a time in my life when teachers told me I couldn't write because my writing didn't fit into the "box" they believed Writing was. I have since learned that all authors have their own writing style, technique, and process and that the process that works best for you, the author, is the best process. I want to share this understanding with students and help them discover their own process.
I have not published my first Novel, of which I am currently in the editing and revising stages. The reason for this is that the story is a fantasy novel and I am working hard to build the world in which the story takes place. It is intended to be part of a series with at least 10 novels, so far. I am a bit of a perfectionist in my own writing and prefer to work out all the details in advance. Not all authors do this and that will be discussed in this class (Pre-writing and Writing).

Homework is optional.
Each week students will be asked to practice the exercises introduced in class. This is recommended for serious writers who want to improve their writing and one day publish. The more you practice the better you will get.
Also, a reading list will be offered for those who would like to read about writing and the writing process. The books offered cover more ground and have many more exercises than can be used in the classroom during one class period.
