Day 1: Learners will write simple sentences, paying attention to singular & plural terms;
Learners will evaluate whether a sentence is a complete thought or a fragment;
Punctuation will be taught briefly,...Your learners will write simple sentences, paying attention to singular & plural terms. Next, they will change tenses (past, present, future). They will also write compound sentences, then complex sentences, & finally periodic sentences.
I am a native English speaker with a 150-hour TESOL qualification from Arizona State University and post-graduate qualifications in Applied Linguistics from Monash University. I am also a lawyer in Australia and I homeschool my own children, therefore speaking and teaching clearly have been a part of my life for many years, and now I am also applying these skills to teaching others. Other applicable courses that I have completed that pertain to this class include: - Reason and Persuasion: Thinking Through Three Dialogues By Plato; - Technology and Ethics; - ADHD: Everyday Strategies for Elementary Students; - The Clinical Psychology of Children and Young People; - Everyday Parenting: The ABCs of Child Rearing; - A Brief History of Humankind.
Learners will need paper and a pen or a pencil for writing, and/or a word processor hardware/software device for typing. Relevant handouts will be uploaded at the start of the week to the classroom to be printed out ahead of classes.
