This is a 3-Day Series. Students will meet 3 times to complete Part 2. Please note: Classes will meet 3 times within the same week for Summer Break & Winter Holiday weeks. Students will learn the fundamentals of traditional Chinese brush ink painting, its principles, techniques, subject matters and styles. Xieyi (freehand) style will be demonstrated. Week 1Lesson 1Intro & Naming ColorsStudents will acquire Mandarin vocabularies while learning how to mix primary colors to create new colors. They will practice color mixing techniques and experiment with different combinations to create a green bamboo painting.Lesson 2Describing Color Shades : Diluting and LayeringStudent will learn the Mandarin adjectives to describe light and dark shades. They will practice diluting ink to make lighter shades and layering colors to add depth and perspective in a cherry blossoms painting.Lesson 3Using Colors with Particle "de"Students will focus on using colors with the particle "de" ("的"). The particle "de" indicates that the color preceding it is an attributive that modifies the noun that comes after it. They will paint a panda and describe its black and white colors in Mandarin.
