"총싸움" - 주택가에서 폭력적인 총격전이 벌어지던 중 한 남자가 총에 맞아 사망합니다. 형사들은 남겨진 단서를 조사합니다. 40개의 탄피가 거리에 널려 있고, 권총이 땅에 버려져 있으며, 버려진 자동차에는 총알 구멍이 가득합니다. 이것은 형사 사법, 사회학, 공민 및 법을 가르치기 위해 강력계 형사 사건을 사용하는 (3부분) 과정입니다.

******PLEASE NOTE: In the Criminal Justice classes, we will discuss topics including institutional corrections, which includes prisons and community corrections which includes probation and parole. Examples will include videos. We will also view and discuss video examples of traffic stops, which depict auto theft and illegal contraband including marijuana and other drug paraphernalia found by the police officer at the time of the traffic stop. These learning resources are used for the purpose of teaching students about the 4th, 5th and 6th Amendment of the Constitution as it applies to due process protections related to the administration of the criminal justice system. I do not show any videos directly from the internet. ******** I personally edit all videos that are used during the course and videos are played directly from my powerpoint presentation to ensure that the material is age appropriate and that it is free of any inappropriate language or other inappropriate content.********

Students will learn the following topics and sub-topics:

- Categories of Crimes (Crimes Against the Person; Crimes Against Property; Victimless Crimes); Criminal Justice vocabulary

- Laws governing theft & shoplifting; Loss Prevention techniques and vocabulary

- Differences in how the 4th 5th and 6th Amendment are applied by private law enforcement officials as opposed to government law enforcement officials

- How arrest and/or search and seizure of property are properly executed by governmental law enforcement officials in the application of night crime investigations

- Laws governing arrest and searches without a warrant

- Forensics including:

Autopsy Techniques and concepts surrounding the medical examiner's examination of the the dead body - body temperature - rigormortis
Balistics and weapons investigations of the homicide / murder weapon including trajectory
Crime Scene investigation of all aspects of the crime scene
Fingerprint analysis and print lifting techniques and concepts

In addition, I have 15 years of law practice and subject matter expertise in the material presented. I have first-hand knowledge and expertise in the subject matter and in the area of critical reading, analysis and synthesis. The material is designed to develop analysis skills that will advance students' critical thinking and effective problem-solving abilities.
This is a summary of the full listing of class requirements. Please read the full listing upon enrollment to ensure that the class is good fit for your student.

*** [[ Please do not allow the student to attempt to take the class while in bed or otherwise laying and/or moving throughout the home while the class is in progress. ]]

*** Virtual backgrounds are not allowed as they are a distraction and students use them to get around the requirement that they please not take the class in bed.

*** We request that the student use a wired internet source plugged into the internet router instead of WIFI – constant blinking of the Internet and students dropping in and out of the class is disruptive. In addition, it is difficult to communicate with the student when the WIFI is intermittently unstable, as it makes it difficult to understand what the student is saying ((It is best if students can test this technology at least 1 day prior to starting the class.))

*** Participation in-person with continuously enabled video/audio each day of the class is mandatory for (all) students. [This is not a video play-back class]. The class is delivered in real time only.

*** Please do not allow the student to attempt to project their video participation in class using an ipad; phone; facetime or other mobile device.

*** The student (must) use a desktop computer or laptop sitting securely on a desk or table so that the camera is stabilized at all times throughout the class. Constant movement of the screen or video camera that is used to project the student’s video into the classroom is very disruptive during the class.

***For optimal performance, students should use headphones with a good microphone so that we can communicate efficiently throughout the course. ((It is best if students can test this technology at least 1 day prior to starting the class.))

-- All Course Resources and activities are provided before and/or during class on shared screen
     -- INCLUGING:
        1) Course Videos
        2) Course Powerpoints (student downloadable copies provided)
        3) Course quizzes (So that the student can participate in anonymous class polling and see other students' answers to the questions, before the initial class, students should navigate to socrative.com and download the app (if the student will be using a smart phone or pad device. If the student will be using the desktop version, the student should be ready to navigate to (KAHOOT.IT) during class. ((It is best if students can test this technology at least 1 day prior to starting the class.))
