Hey there! Are you looking for some extra math help for your second-grader? Look no further than our fun and friendly math bootcamp! We'll get together for 2 weeks to tackle tricky word problems, learn about place value, practice addition and subtraction, and so much more. Our interactive lessons are designed to boost your child's confidence and make learning math a blast! This class is also great for 1st graders who need a challenge or 3rd graders who need to review 2nd-grade skills. The class will start with 2 times tables as a warm up activity then the students will learn or review the topic through an interactive lesson with the teacher. Students will finish by practicing different problems independently and with the class. My approach to each learner is to meet them at their level. If I notice a student struggling, I assist them by starting with problems that I know they can solve and gradually increasing the difficulty level. If I observe that a student needs to be challenged, I provide them with problems that help them learn beyond what they already know before the class. Operations and Algebraic Thinking This camp will start on Monday, August 19-29th. We will not meet on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Week 1 Day 1 -Word problems using addition and subtraction using 2 digit numbers -Add and subtract up to 20 Day 2 -Working with groups of objects to determine odd and even numbers -Arrays up to 5 rows and 5 columns Day 3 Numbers and Operations Week of June 17 -Place Value up to 100 -Recognizing Place Value Blocks Day 4 -Understand word numbers -Skip counting by 5s, 10s and 100s Week 2 August 26-29 Day 5 -Determining the name, expanded form, and numeral for a given number -Comparing numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to Day 6 -Adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers -Adding 4 numbers that have 2 digits each up to 1000 Day 7 -Adding or subtracting 10 or 100 to any given number up to 900 -Regrouping when subtracting Day 8 -Interactive Fun Review Game! Hey there! I'm excited to share that I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and spent a wonderful 10 years teaching in a public school. I had the pleasure of teaching 6th grade for 5 years and then taught in a 3rd grade classroom for the last 5 years. In my classes, I used small groups and tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of my students.
I'm really passionate about encouraging reading for fun and for learning. I truly believe that when students have a solid foundation in reading, learning becomes a whole lot easier. And you know what? Math has now become my new favorite subject to teach! I love coming up with different ways to help struggling learners and to challenge those who are stronger in math.
