This is a private tutoring class designed to help your student understand math. In my experience many students dislike math or resist when they just do not understand or lack confidence. My goal is for them to develop confidence and math skills. I want to help your student learn to enjoy, not dread math. First session, parents should send what specific areas they are wanting the student to work on, and materials that they are wanting included. I will assess the student's level as we work...
Students will increase their understanding of math concepts, develop a feeling that they can master math, and feel more positive about their abilities.
I am a certified teacher in Elementary Education, Special Education, Middle School English, and have a Master's in Counseling. I have experience in all of those areas. As a special education teacher you help students who are struggling to understand topics, I have had experience in grades K-12. I worked in public education for over 35 years.
Students will need pencil, paper, prefer if they have a whiteboard/marker/eraser, also items they could use for concrete examples if possible (even legos can be used for many examples) I can work with families depending on what items might be helpful.
We will use any material the student has they need to work on. Other sources will be dependent upon student need and conveyed to student/parent if there is anything required. Most should not need additional resources.
